National Student Employment Week

Celebrated the second full week in April...

Colleges and universities across the country recognize the importance of student employees!

Student employees perform invaluable services with enthusiasm, dedication, and initiative.  Setting aside a special week to draw the awareness of others, both on and off campus, is the perfect opportunity to show your appreciation.

National Student Employment Week takes commitment, planning, and coordination yet, the effort yields great rewards.

  • Students - Understand their impact and contributions to your campus.
  • Employers  - Maximized awareness of the service students provide in the community.
  • Campus -  Increased participation and discussion of student employment and career-related issues.

Resources

Each institutions ability to celebrate may vary.  Institutional budgets may determine length, number of days, and size of events.Depending on your resources, you may want to plan activities for the entire week, several days, or just one day.  If your budget limits you to just one day or less you may be eligible for NSEA Scholarship to assist in your planning process.  If you have zero funding, you can still participate.  Simply reach out to your campus resources, community, and students creatively.

Need a FREE idea of creativity?  Reach out to your Office or School of Communications.  Perhaps they have students who need course credit and can assist in the development of an appreciation video.  Check these out!

SEOTY

Also in the spring many student employment and financial aid offices participate in NSEA's Student Employee of the Year (SEOTY) competition. Nominate the winner on your campus to your Regional Association (NEASEA, SASEA, MASEA, or WASEA).   See your Region's website for contact information about the Regional SEOTY nominations.
