The National Student Employment Association

The National Student Employment Association is an organization of several hundred professionals involved with programs for college students who work. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in administering student employment or hiring students. NSEA supports and promotes student employment through research, publications, professional development opportunities, and the open exchange of information.

NSEA is a prime source for current information on federal student employment regulations and expert advice on the Federal Work-Study Program. Coronavirus Announcements

NSEA is currently monitoring the coronavirus and how it could affect our campuses and NSEA events. Please see below for announcements:

  • [3/5/2020] The Department of Education, Office of Postsecondary Education has released advice on addressing interruptions related to the coronavirus. In particular, they have addressed the use of FWS funds in the event that an institution or worksite is closed due to the virus. You can view that information on the Federal Student Aid's website.
  • [3/10/2020] A member forum topic titled "Preparing for Coronavirus" has been created to easily respond and view responses. To access the community forums:
    • Log into your membership account or, if you are not a member click on the hyperlink above.( Non-members can read but can not ask questions or respond.)
    • On your profile page, under the "Hello My Name Is" image, click on Community Forums
  • [3/10/2020] NSEA Events: The health and safety of NSEA event attendees is our top priority. According to the most recent information from the CDC, for most people, the immediate risk of being exposed to the virus that causes Coronavirus (COVID-19) is thought to be low. However, we are working to take the fullest precautions for all of our events and are monitoring guidance related to the COVID-19 situation closely. We will continue to evaluate and evolve our preparations as the situation may warrant.

    SEE Training:  All scheduled SEE Trainings will proceed as planned unless otherwise notified. Given the unique and ever-changing circumstance presented with the Coronavirus, NSEA will follow the SEE Cancellation Policy to offer alternatives for event cancellations (see below) if due to the Coronavirus
    • If the registered trainee must cancel due to travel restrictions placed by their institution or the trainee is sick or self-quarantined, the participant will be:
      • Allowed to transfer registration to another SEE training location, but the training must occur before the end of 2020.
    • If SEE Training is canceled by NSEA due to cancellations by the site host or the registrant list drops below eight (8), participants will be:
      • Allowed to transfer registration to another SEE training location, but the training must occur before the end of 2020.
      • Receive a full refund for the registration.
    NSEA-NEASEA Conference: We currently expect that the NSEA-NEASEA Annual Conference scheduled for October 14-16, 2020 will proceed as planned. You can download the full statement here.
  • [3/13/2020] All SEE trainings that were scheduled for March and April have been canceled and registrants have been notified due to the number of colleges and universities that are closing and/or restricting travel. The NSEA board and National Trainers are exploring other options to meet the needs of the registrants.
