As part of National Student Employment Week, NSEA coordinates a selection process and chooses the Student Employee of the Year and Supervisor of the Year. The goal of this program is to celebrate and recognize the outstanding contributions and achievements of student employees and their supervisors.
2027 timeline
- January 11, 2027: Accepting nominations through online form (to NSEA)
- February 12, 2027: Nominations due to NSEA
- February 17, 2027: The SEOTY Committee disseminates nominations to sub-group
- March 4, 2027: Scoring rubric due back to SEOY Committee
- March 5, 2027: The SEOTY Committee meets for any tie breakers and determines the winner
- March 12, 2027: Latest date by which winning institutions will be notified
- April 12 - 16, 2027: National Student Employment Week
- April 16, 2027: NSEA announces winners on social media
Qualifications and criteria to nominate candidates to NSEA
- Nominating institutions must be current members of NSEA.
- Institutions may submit a different nominee for each category but may only submit one nomination per category.

Undergraduate SEOTY award winner qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled at the nominating institution in an undergraduate program and
- Must be employed in paid status (volunteers are ineligible to be nominated)
- Teaching assistants are eligible

- There is no runner up for the Graduate Student Employee of the Year category

Supervisor of the Year award winner qualifications
- Must supervise student employees at the time of nomination and
- Be a full-time or part-time staff or faculty member at the nominating institution

- The winning supervisor will receive a plaque and an individual NSEA membership for one year
